The Czech Republic have appointed Lubor Blazek as the coach of the women's national team.

Blazek, the long-time boss of ZVVZ USK Prague, has replaced Milan Veverka who was let go from the position in August.

The Czech Republic have decided to part ways with women's national team coach Milan Veverka and his assistants, Mariana Svobody and Miroslava Volejníka.

A replacement for long-time coach Jan Bobrovsky, Veverka led the Czechs at the EuroBasket Women in Latvia but only steered them to a 10th-place finish with two wins and six defeats.

Ukraine met stiff resistance but finally put away the visiting Czech Republic in a do-or-die showdown in the EuroBasket Relegation Round on Thursday.

The Ukrainians prevailed 82-70 to finish 4-2 and secure their Division A status.

Hungary whipped the Czech Republic 70-55 on Monday in Szolnok to secure their place in Division A of the EuroBasket.

The outcome has left both sides with 3-2 records in the four-team EuroBasket Relegation Round.
