Hodge To Step In For Aka At Paris

Julius Hodge is being considered as a short-term replacement for the injured Johnathan Aka in Paris

Paris Levallois finished strong to claim a valuable away win at Okapi Aalstar on Tuesday night, 86-76, in Group E gameday 3 action.

The Parisians fielded only 10 players in Belgium and just eight of them stepped on the court.

The French side were forced to play without center Jonathan Aka, who suffered a nasty fall after a dunk in last Tuesday's game against the other Belgian side in the group, Belfius Mons-Hainaut.

Aka injured his wrist and the scan showed he will be sidelined for at least six weeks.

The club decided they have to bring in reinforcements and are considering signing a short-term contract with Julius Hodge.

The 2.01m Antigua international is no stranger to either the EuroChallenge or the French Pro A.

He was briefly on the books of Belarusian side Tsmoki Minsk last season and played in two games in the European competition, averaging 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and four assists.

Hodge, who was a first-round pick in the 2005 NBA draft, played in France with Besançon in the 2008/09 season.

The 29-year-old averaged 12.4 points on 51.4 percent shooting from the floor, 5.7 rebounds and 6.1 assists in 14 games in the LNB, however his team was relegated.

A true globetrotter, he has also plied his trade in Vietnam, Australia, China and Puerto Rico, among others.

Hodge will undergo a medical examination on Wednesday and he might not be eligible yet to make his debut with Paris on Friday night's Pro A game at Strasbourg.

If his addition to the Parisian roster materialises, coach Christoph Denis will have to make adjustments, since Hodge is in reality a swing player and he will be replacing a center on the team.
