|Kristen Sharp led all Mondeville scorers with 16 points |
A delighted USO Mondeville ended their worrying sequence of defeats to take down an error prone ZVVZ USK Prague 70-61 in EuroLeague Women Group C.
The result could prove to be a significant lift for Herve Coudray and his players who stepped out for the tip-off having slipped to three successive losses and with their dreams of making the post-season threatening to ebb away.
But, they have bought themselves back firmly into contention with a fine win against a Prague side that allowed their recent good form to unravel with some sloppy ball handling which contributed to an eye-watering and costly 22 turnovers.
As for the French victors, there was plenty to toast in victory, and not least, the superb shooting performances of Kristen Sharp and Naignouma Coulibaly who combined for an efficient haul of 28 points.
The hosts were always on the front foot during the game, and generally looked the more likely winners throughout.
Each time Prague threatened to make a run, USO Mondeville responded and they also showed composure during crunch time to make the scores they needed from the line to wrap up the win - although up until that point, several missed free throws had threatened to be their downfall.
Kia Vaughn had 14 points and 13 rebounds for USK Prague who were participating in the third of four straight road trips.
