|Nicole Powell is no longer with Perfumerias Avenida|
Having recently decided to go in a different direction with the appointment of head coach Victor Lapena, Perfumerias Avenida are certainly ready for a new chapter after deciding to terminate the contract of Nicole Powell.
One of the standout performers in the competition last season, her summer switch to Salamanca from Wisla Can-Pack looked to be a real coup on paper, with the club hoping the American would spearhead their tilt at making the post-season.
However in reality, it has turned out to be a hugely underwhelming relationship, with Avenida undoubtedly suffering from some under-par performances from the forward who has averaged a mediocre 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game in a bitterly disappointing EuroLeague Women Group C campaign.
This is a far cry from her first stint with the club when she poured in 17.3 points per game and impressed so much that she was crowned a Euroleague Women All Star.
Having not played in the last game at CCC Polkowice, the club has decided to cut ties with the player and cancel her contract, citing off-court disciplinary reasons as being the main foundation for the decision.
Meanwhile on a more positive note, Coach Lapena has now taken up his position and described Salamanca as being "the best possible place for basketball in Spain" and also added that he wants to "earn the respect of my players since that's the most important factor."
