Former EuroLeague Women Final Eight MVP Asjha Jones is looking forward to taking her veteran skills and leadership to Russia this season.

Former four-time champions Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje have handed the power forward a deal which will see her as one of the most experienced players on a young, exciting and primarily Russian roster.

Speaking to the club website after touching down in the Russian capital en-route to Vidnoje, she confirmed, "I am happy to have signed with Sparta&K. It is a club with a great reputation for winning and treating their players well.

"This year we will be young, but we also have a lot of players that have plenty of playing experience.

"This will be their time to show how good they really are. "

The Club's Executive Director Anna Arkhipova Von Kalmanovic knows the player very well and was quick to welcome the 33-year-old.

She said, "Asjha is a great addition to our team and we are expecting her to become a leader, just as she was in Rivas Ecopolis who reached the EuroLeague Women Final in Istanbul a few years ago with a very young team."

Jones will not have any problem acclimatising to life in Russia because since 2002 she has played a total of six seasons, with the likes of CSKA Moscow and UMMC Ekaterinburg and is relishing a return for one more campaign.

"After playing for many years here and being away three years, it has made me miss a lot of the relationships I had built in Russia," insisted the American.

"I have also missed experiencing how much the sport is celebrated and loved here."

Jones played for Kayseri Kaski spor last season, averaging 13.3 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in EuroCup Women to help her team to the Final of the competition.

She also averaged a magnificent tournament double-double of 20.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per game in a Rivas Ecopolis vest at the first ever EuroLeague Women Final Eight a little over 18 months ago, and shot an outstanding 60.4% from the floor.
