Perfumerias Avenida have continued their early summer recruitment spree with the acquisition of Spanish forward Tamara Abalde.

The 24-year-old, who represented Spain at EuroBasket Women 2009, will arrive in Salamanca to give the team an additional rebounding presence, having spent the last couple of seasons playing over the border in France.

Abalde initially stepped out for Aix-en-Provence before subsequently signing for Basket Landes last summer, which gave her an opportunity to compete in EuroCup Women where she averaged 5.8 points and 4.2 rebounds in a little over 21 minutes per game.

Prior to making the switch to the French LFB, she played in EuroLeague Women with Rivas Ecopolis, but will now be part of a team trying to shoot down her former employers in the quest for more Liga Femenina silverware for Avenida next season.

Abalde has also spent time in her homeland playing for Celta Vigo and UNB Obenasa, whilst she won a host of medals at youth level for Spain, including gold at the U18 European Championship Women in 2006.

The addition of Abalde comes hot on the heels of a raft of other signings, which included fellow Spaniards Leonor Rodriguez and Mariona Ortiz.
