|Daina Gabalyte adds some valuable experience to the roster of Kibirkstis-VICI|
Lithuanian champions Kibirkstis-VICI have added depth to their roster for the forthcoming Euroleague Women season with the acquisitions of experienced forward Daina Gabalyte (Staugaitiene) and Drexel University graduate Hollie Mershon.
Veteran Gabalyte returns to the game having not played for the last couple of seasons, with head-coach Jurgita Streimikyte-Virbickiene confident the 33-year-old can be an asset on the roster.
"Gabalyte will be one of the most experienced players in our team," she explained.
"We believe that she can help develop our young players."
Gabalyte has Euroleague Women experience having played in the competition with TTT Riga and having also played for two season in the Lithuanian capital with TEO Vilnius.
There is also a handy Lithuanian connection for Mershon too, who is likely to provide one of the main scoring threats for the team this season.
She amassed an impressive, all-action 19.5 points, 6.2 boards and 4.8 assists per game in her last season at Drexel University, where she played with Lithuanian national team player Kamile Nacickaite.
The club have expressed their delight with the signing of Mershon, not only because of her all-round game, but also because of the athleticism and versatility she offers.
Kibirkstis-VICI are in Group C and will open their EuroLeague Women campaign with a game at CCC Polkowice on 06 November.
