Gruda Back; Valdemoro’s Big Number

The FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year, Sandrine Gruda, is finally to rejoin the national team to begin preparing for the FIBA World Championship in the Czech Republic.

Gruda, who has been playing in the WNBA, will link up with France ahead of a warm-up tournament in Lugo, Spain.

Pierre Vincent's team will take on Belarus, Greece and the Spaniards in Spain.

Vincent has called 15 players for the tournament:

France squad for Lugo event: Marielle Amant, Clemence Beikes, Jennifer Digbeu, Celine Dumerc, Elodie Godin, Emilie Gomis, Johanne Gomis, Sandrine Gruda, Pauline Jannault, Marion Laborde, Anael Lardy, Florence Lepron, Endene Miyem, Emmeline Ndongue and Yacine Sene.

The biggest star of EuroBasket Women in Italy in 2007, Amaya Valdemoro, has added an important number to the history books.

Valdemoro celebrated her 200th appearance for the national team on Saturday when Spain beat Mali in a warm-up game for the FIBA World Championship in Madrid.

The Rivas Ecopolis player made her Spain debut at the age of 18.

She became only the fifth player to make 200 appearances in the national team shirt of Spain.

"I have always been very ambitious," said Valdemoro.

"But I never thought I would be able to play 200 games.

"When I look back at my debut, I got emotional because it has been many years."

The best player in Spanish history, Valdemoro has made a huge impact in the game.

She was named MVP of the EuroBasket Women 2007 in Italy.

Valdemoro was voted to other all-tournament teams and has clinched four EuroBasket Women medals and also represented Spain in World Championships and Olympic Games.
