|Sylvia Fowles' powerful inside game will be missed by Galatasarayin the coming weeks|
Galatasaray star Sylvia Fowles has only just returned to EuroLeague Women after only playing in the Turkish League last season, but she is already back on the sidelines after picking up an injury.
The center has sustained a leg injury which the club has confirmed will rule her out of action for two to four weeks, meaning she is almost certain to miss the forthcoming games at home against ZVVZ USK Prague and at CCC Polkowice.
Fowles posted a double-double of 10 points and 16 rebounds in last weeks' convincing 79-48 opening night win at Novi Zagreb.
Galatasaray also have other injury headaches to contend with, something which continues the trend of last season when they were hit by some key absences.
It isn't only Fowles who Gala will miss in the paint since Nevriye Yilmaz who moved from arch rivals Fenerbahce during the summer, is still recovering from surgery.
Additionally, Alba Torrens is in the latter stages of her fitness race after the ACL injury which took her down near the beginning of the year and it remains to be seen if Lindsay Whalen will need to rest hand and finger injuries sustained in the WNBA.
Galatasaray did however overcome the absence of Fowles, Yilmaz, Torrens and Whalen at the weekend, collecting a convincing 71-52 success at Samsun.
Elsewhere in Turkey, Fenerbahce cruised past EuroCup Women participants Mersin 77-54 with a powerful all-round team performance. Angel McCoughtry headlined the show with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
There was however disappointment for the third Turkish EuroLeague Women club Tarsus Belediye, who lost to EuroCup Women hopefuls Adana Botas 96-83 in overtime.
