Career: RTU/Klondaika Riga (Latvia-LSBL, 1999-2003), Western Illinois (USA-NCAA, 2003-06), Universitat F.C.Barcelona (Spain-LFB, 2006-07), Hondarribia-Irun (Spain-LFB, 2007-08), Nadezhda (Russia-Superleague, 2008-09), USK Prague (Czech Republic-ZBL, 2009-10), MKB EuroLeasing (Hungary-A, 2010-11)
The first player from Latvia to play in the WNBA, Zane Tamane has this little piece of history to go on her resume after stepping out with Washington Mystics back in 2006. The qualities of the center are already well documented- she is a real power down low and can also dominate on the glass and block shots for the team. A near double-double performance during the Qualifying Round last summer underlined her value and since that time, she has enjoyed similarly impressive numbers for MKB EuroLeasing both domestically and in EuroLeague Women. Defensively, Tamane will be important because of her size and experience, which gives her the ability to match-up well with most opposing centers and it is worth noting that she has grabbed more rebounds than anyone else on the team in recent tournaments. |
