MALTSI CLINCHES KAYSERI DEAL
By Jeff Taylor
The most famous player ever to wear the Greek women's national team jersey, Evanthia Maltsi, has clinched a move to Kayseri Kaskispor.
The 2009 EuroBasket Women MVP's signing by the Turkish club has been confirmed by the agency that represents her, Prodep International.
A 1.80 m shooting guard/small forward, Maltsi has played several seasons in the EuroLeague Women.
Having turned out for Bourges and Ros Casares, she was a standout at USK Prague for three years before joining CCC Polkowice last summer.
With the Polish club this season, Maltsi averaged 12.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in the EuroLeague Women, helping the outfit reach the Second Round.
Polkowice were runners-up to Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in the Polish play-off championship.
Kayseri, runners-up in the EuroCup Women this season, have designs on challenging Fenerbahce and Galatasaray for Turkish league supremacy.
The club had already signed former Rivas Ecopolis star Asjha Jones, the MVP of the 2012 EuroLeague Women Final Eight.
AUGUSTUS STAYS WITH SPARTA&K
One of Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje's leading players, Seimone Augustus, will be with the Russian club again next season.
The American, less than three months away from playing for the United States at her second straight Olympics, has penned an extension.
When asked about the length of the contract, Sparta&K general manager Steve Costalas said: "If it is one or two years is clearly between the two parties and only if we want and agree, we will divulge more."
Sparta&K recently signed Spanish veteran Elisa Aguilar, a leading player at Rivas Ecopolis the past two seasons.
"We are very lucky to be able and sign a player who within all her other many accomplishments, just recently led her team to the EuroLeague Women Final game," Costalas said.
"Of course, we signed Elisa because she is a great leader off and on the court but by bringing her into our family, we are also hoping that she will also be a teacher to Nika Baric just as she has been for many other young Spanish point guards."
Slovenian international Baric was the FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year in 2010. She just completed her first season with Sparta&K.

KURASOVA PENS RIVAS DEAL
Former Perfumerias Avenida forward Olexandra Kurasova has decided to return to Spain for the second time in her career.
The Ukraine international has signed for Rivas Ecopolis.
The 26-year-old Kurasova had a second stint with UNIQA Euroleasing Sopron this year and averaged 11.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in the EuroLeague Women.
She is the second former Sopron star to join Rivas in the close season, with Katalin Honti having moved to the Madrid team from Ros Casares.
Tijana Krivacevic also left Sopron in the middle of the 2011-12 campaign and penned a deal with Rivas.
LECIEJEWSKA MOVES TO POLKOWICE
Polish international Magdalena Leciejewska has signed for CCC Polkowice, the club has announced.
The 1.91 m power forward spent the last two campaigns with Polish champions Wisla Can-Pack Krakow.
She battled back from a serious knee injury to make eight appearances in the EuroLeague Women with Wisla, averaging 8.8 minutes.
"We wanted to obtain Magda because she is an experienced, versatile player with great potential," said Polkowice club president Krzysztof Korsak.
"I am pleased that she will play for our club."
Polkowice lost to Wisla in the Polish league Finals.
