BASKETBALL IN EUROPE

It's not a like-for-like swap as the one is a guard and the other a forward, but Russia internationals Popova (pictured) and Vidmer will sure have a lot of tips to exchange

UMMC Ekaterinburg have announced the signing of another player for next season.

Veteran guard Tatiana Popova has joined the team from Dynamo Moscow.

The 1.79 guard, who is 27, averaged 10 points and 3.5 assists for Dynamo in their two EuroCup Women games this season.

She played on the Russian side that captured the gold medal at EuroBasket Women 2011 in Poland.

UMMC won a Russian Cup and league double while finishing third in the EuroLeague Women.

Meanwhile, a valuable frontcourt presence for UMMC, Russia international Tatiana Vidmer, is heading in the opposite direction.

Dynamo will get a seasoned veteran in the 26-year-old power forward, who averaged 3.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per game in the EuroLeague Women.

Vidmer played an average of 14.2 minutes per game in Europe's elite club competition.

She, too, was in the Russian squad that captured the gold medal last year in Poland.
