PRAGUE IN COMMAND IN CZECH FINALS

ZVVZ USK Prague are looking to finish their season on a high and they took a step in the right direction with a 99-80 victory over Frisco Brno in Game 1 of the title series.

Delisha Milton-Jones led the winners with 32 points and Lindsay Whalen added 22.

Jan Bobrovsky's side outscored the visitors 28-18 in the opening quarter and after leading by 10 at half-time, put the result beyond down in the third quarter when they poured in 28 more points.

Young Sweden international Farhiya Abdi had 26 points in defeat.

Game 2 in the best-of-five series is in Brno on Saturday.


ITALIAN UPSETS

Beretta-Famila Schio were upset by Pool Comense, 61-60, in their Italian play-off semi-final first leg.

Brooke Smith paced Comense with 18 points and Laura Spreafico added 14.

EuroLeague Women Final Eight participants Schio got 18 points from Laura Macchi.

Le Mura Lucca also surprised Coppa Italia winners Cras Basket Taranto 62-54 in the first leg of their tie.

Shamela Hampton's 16 points and Marie Ruzickova's 14 were decisive.

Taranto went into the play-offs with a first-place finish in the regular season.

They won 20 of their 22 games while Schio were second at 18-4.
