|Shavonte Zellous provided the scoring for Galatasaray odeabank with 22 points in a low-scoring affair |
Galatasaray odeabank bounced back to winning ways in EuroLeague Women after completing a final quarter defensive lockdown of CCC Polkowice to take a 62-49 success in Group C.
Having lost against group leaders ZVVZ USK Prague, the Istanbul heavyweights showed it was more of a blip, after throwing a defensive blanket over their Polish visitors to get back on track.
However, the home side didn't have things all their own way as Polkowice tried in vain to avoid a fifth loss in their first six games.
When Valeriya Musina put her team 15-13 in front, it appeared that the offensive frailties of Jacek Winnicki and his struggling team might be a thing of the past.
But, it was to prove a false dawn as Galatasaray slowly but surely gained the upper hand.
Yet when Teja Oblak scored for Polkowice at the end of the third quarter to cut the gap to just four points at 50-46, the chance of an upset was still imaginable.
However, hope of a shock evaporated as CCC Polkowice managed a meagre three points during the last ten minutes as their offensive woes haunted them yet again.
Galatasaray consequently eased to victory - even if they didn't find any real rhythm themselves - aside from Shavonte Zellous who had 22 points, four assists and three steals, and also Nevriye Yilmaz who had an efficient 10 points and seven rebounds.
Belinda Snell continues as the one Polkowice player in some kind of form by scoring 19 points.
