Wisla Can-Pack Krakow coach Jose Hernandez has brought rising Spanish star Cristina Ouvina to the club.

Hernandez, the national team coach of Spain the last two summers, had Ouvina in his preliminary squad for EuroBasket Women 2011 in Poland but she was one of the last three players cut.

A 21-year-old point guard, Ouvina has joined the Polish outfit from Mann Filter Zaragoza.

At the U20 European Championship in 2010, the 1.74m playmaker showed she is a player for the big occasion.

Ouvina poured in a game-high 24 points and had four steals in the Final but Russia edged Spain, 75-74.

Hernandez has also been able to retain the services of Anke De Mondt for another season.

De Mondt, a sharpshooting guard from Belgium, played a vital role for Perfumerias Avenida in their 2010-11 EuroLeague Women title-winning campaign before leaving for Wisla.

She averaged 8.5 points and shot 35.3% (24 of 68) from long range in the 2011-12 EuroLeague Women campaign.

Wisla have also confirmed that the club is in the process of renewing contracts with point guard Paulina Pawlak, forward Katarzyna Krezel and power forward Magdalena Leciejewska.

The club, after coming in second place in Group C in the EuroLeague, needed just two games to overcome USK Prague in the Second Round.

At the Final Eight in Istanbul at the end of March and start of April, though, Wisla lost all four of their games and came in eighth.

They rebounded by winning the Polish league title.
