|Leilani Mitchell and Novi Zagreb finally chalked up a "W" on Wednesday night|
Novi Zagreb finally got off the mark in Group C of the EuroLeague Women as they recorded their first win of the season at the fifth attempt, topping USO Mondeville 82-60.
After the long wait, the victory seemed to come fairly easily as they broke open the game with a huge third quarter and cruised to the finish.
Matea Vrdoljak had 20 points to lead them there while Mirna Mazic added 15 and Leilani Mitchell and Latoya Williams added 11 each.
They might have been fearing another night of frustration as Mondeville jumped out to an 8-2 lead on an early Marie Mbuyamba jump-shot, but Williams replied with a three-pointer as they hit seven straight to take the lead.
It was an advantage they would hold almost the entire rest of the game but Mondeville stuck around and were within one, 33-32, when Binta Drammeh hit a pair of free throws late in the second quarter.
But Zagreb then scored the final six points of the half and the first four of the third quarter to lead 43-32 on Mitchell's three-pointer.
An 11-2 spurt then put them 54-36 up on Mitchell's free throws and all of a sudden it was looking easy for the hosts.
They would only continue to pull away and seven unanswered points gave them a 76-49 bulge with three minutes to go.
Amanda Lassiter led Mondeville with 21 points while Ingrid Tanqueray added 10.
