Ros Casares opened up a big third-quarter lead but had to hold on at the end against Bourges before claiming a 68-61 victory.

In a EuroLeague Women battle, Ros prevailed to assure themselves of first place in Group A for at least another week.

Lauren Jackson had 14 points for the winners while Maya Moore poured in 13, including a free-throw line jumper in the final minute that ended the Bourges comeback attempt.

All is not lost for the French team as it is fifth in Group A and will play in Round 2 of the competition.

The visitors played without an injured point guard Celine Dumerc but Emmeline Ndongue continued her comeback from injury, playing almost 28 minutes and scoring 10 points.

Ros twice went in front by 13 points in the third quarter, the second time with 59 seconds to go in the period when Jackson buried a three-pointer.

The Spanish club went to the final frame on top, 52-40.

The lead was 61-47 with 6:46 to play but Bourges scored seven unanswered points, a run capped by a Ndong's three-point play to close the gap to 61-54.

Catherine Joens' lay-up cut the deficit to 64-59 and after Sancho Lyttle's basket for Ros, Endene Miyem made a jumper to cut the home team's lead to 66-61 with 1:28 to play.

Ros called a timeout and when play resumed, Moore ended up hitting a jumper with 36 seconds to play to make it 68-61 - the final score.

Joens had 17 points in defeat for Bourges.
