CCC Polkowice breathed life into their EuroLeague Women campaign on Wednesday and piled on the misery for Tarbes by beating the French team, 78-52. Evina Maltsi had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Polish outfit, with Valeriya Musina contributing 16. The Group B win was Polkowice's second in five games. Tarbes, still without a victory in Europe this season, got 12 points from Paoline Salagnac. The visitors only trailed 20-17 early in the second quarter after two baskets from Ana Cata-Chitiga when the hosts began to take a firm grip on proceedings. Agnieszka Majewska drew a foul from Tarbes' Naura El Gargati and made two free-throws, and Megan Frazee followed with two jump shots for Polkowice. Musina finished the spurt with two more from the charity stripe for a 28-17 lead. The hosts put the result beyond doubt with a 7-0 run early in the second half for a 46-29 advantage. In the spurt, Musina and Maltsi each buried a jump shot and Iva Perovanovic added a three-point play. They ended up outscoring the visitors 13-6 in the frame. Tarbes' defense disappeared in the fourth when they allowed Polkowice to put 28 points on the scoreboard for a winning margin of 26. |
