UNIQA-Euroleasing Sopron strengthened their bid to reach the EuroLeague Women play-offs on Wednesday and denied Tarbes their first win of the season. Playing in France, Norbert Székely's side clinched a 76-67 victory. Olexandra Kurasova had 20 points for the Hungarians, who improved to 3-4 in Group B. Naura El Gargati and Alexandra Rochell Montgomery poured in 14 apiece as the French club slumped to 0-8 in Group B. Tarbes pulled to within 58-55 with 9:00 remaining but got no closer. Dora Horti answered with a jumper and after several misses for both sides, center Horti scored again to push the lead to 62-55. Tarbes got no closer than five the rest of the way. The French outfit may have lost, but they battled to the end. Tarbes also put on a free-throw shooting exhibition, making all 17 of their attempts at the line. Sopron weren't bad, either, drilling 15 of 18 at the charity stripe. |
