|Ivana Matovic looks set to return to ZVVZ USK Prague|
ZVVZ USK Prague are keeping faith with a core of domestic players after announcing they will retain a quintet of Czech stars, with Ivana Matovic also expected to complete a switch from Fenerbahce.
Having completed the best season in their history with an inaugural appearance at the EuroLeague Women Final Eight as well as a perfect unbeaten campaign and clean sweep of honours in the Czech League, the champions will retain the services of Eva Viteckova, Katerina Elhotova, Ilona Burgrova, Jana Vesela and Lenka Bartakova.
Viteckova enjoyed a productive season in EuroLeague Women although an injury curtailed her participation at the Final Eight in Ekaterinburg. Injuries also caught up with fellow veterans Ilona Burgrova who fractured a wrist down the season stretch, while Vesela missed the entire campaign due to an ACL injury.
All five players have been named on the roster to play at the FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey, with Viteckova having skipped EuroBasket Women 2013 and both Vesela and Burgrova expected to recover from their respective injury woes.
Meanwhile the pending arrival of Matovic would certainly add even more experience in the paint for head coach Natalia Hejkova, with the 30-year-old possessing more than a decade of playing in EuroLeague Women.
The Serbian has spent four years in Istanbul suiting up for Fenerbahce and aside from last season when she ducked under double-digits in points production for the first time, Matovic has always been one of the most consistent frontcourt performers in the competition.
The move would also see Matovic returning to her former club, having played for USK during 2003-04.
Meanwhile emerging Czech national team star Alena Hanusova has confirmed she intends to make the move to the capital from arch rivals BK Imos Brno and is likely to operate alongside Matovic under the basket.
