26.05.2010

Lotos Gdynia have agreed to a deal that sends EuroLeague Women all-star Ivana Matovic to Fenerbahce.

Matovic, a big part the Polish team's drive to the domestic title this season, averaged 15.5 points and 4.9 rebounds per contest this season.

The Serbian is the latest player to leave Lotos, with play-off finals MVP Erin Phillips and Poland international Magdalena Leciejewska having previously agreed to deals with Wisla Can-Pack Krakow.

Gdynia saidĀ  on their club website: "After receiving a very favorable offer from Turkey to withdraw Ivana Matovic, who still had an important contract with our club, club management has decided to give its consent to the transfer of players to Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

"Such action was taken after prior consultation with the player and her agent, with both sides having agreed to such a deal."

Lotos have announced the signing of former MKB Euroleasing center Dora Horti, a Hungary international.

Horti, who is only 23, averaged 9.9 points and 5.4 reboundsĀ  per game this season in the EuroLeague Women.

She helped Sopron reach the EuroLeague Women Final Four last year.

Fenerbahce have yet to announce that Matovic will be with the team next season, and they have also not confirmed that Laszlo Ratgeber will coach the team.

The club did announce recently, however, that Diana Taurasi is joining the team for next season.

Taurasi, a USA international, won four EuroLeague Women crowns with Spartak and was voted MVP of the last two Final Fours.

Fenerbahce have also secured the services of Australia's 2006 FIBA World Championship for Women MVP Penny Taylor for another campaign.
