CCC Polkowice had to win a dramatic fifth game against Lotos Gdynia to reach the Polish league finals but they'll need to do something even more special to lift the title.

Wisla Can-Pack Krakow have won the first two games of their showdown and need two more wins to complete a successful PLKK championship defense.

Jose Ignacio Hernandez's side rolled to a 73-59 win in Game 1 and then blew open a close game in the third quarter of the next meeting and won, 72-60.

Australian point guard Erin Phillips of Wisla Can-Pack said: "This was a difficult game. Polkowice fought very hard and the result was very close, so it was hard for us."

Trailing by a point at half-time in Game 2, Hernandez's side outscored Polkowice 26-14 in the third quarter and stayed on top the rest of the way.

Ewelina Kobryn had 20 points and 11 rebounds in the second meeting for Wisla, who recently played in the EuroLeague Women Final Eight.

Arkadiusz Rusin, the coach of Polkowice, said: "In the first half, we came out fighting and claimed a one-point lead.

"I have no clue what happened with our team in the third quarter.

"At half-time, it (victory) was in our hands, but unfortunately, mistakes are punished at this level when you fight for the championship. Wisla Can-Pack deservedly won.

Games 3 and 4 will be held in Polkowice on Friday and Saturday.

"We'll go now to Polkowice where the game is difficult, the crowd is big," Phillips said.

"We know it will be harder than in Krakow. This week, we were very much focused on just winning those games."

Energa Toruń holds a 2-0 lead in their fight for third place with Lotos Gdynia after winning 85-78 and 83-74.

This is an important series because it may have a bearing on which European competitions the teams play in next season.

Energa Toruń has the chance to go for a 3-0 sweep when the teams meet again on Thursday.
