Good Angels Kosice won their fourth game of the season in the EuroLeague Women on Wednesday night, pulling away from Frisco Sika Brno in the fourth quarter for a 71-54 home triumph. Danielle McCray had a team-high 19 points for Kosice while Natalia Vieru poured in 16 and also corralled 14 rebounds. Kosice are 4-3 in Group C and in the thick of the hunt for a play-off spot. Brno fell to their sixth defeat in seven games. The Czech team has some promising youngsters and after a tough start on Wednesday, they clawed their way back and only trailed 49-45 at the end of the third quarter. Two Romana Hejdova free-throws closed the gap to 54-51 two minutes into the fourth quarter. Kosice then shifted into a higher gear. McCray scored with a lay-up to start a 17-0 run that she finished with a three-pointer as the hosts led 71-51 with 47 seconds to play. Hejdova finished with 16 points for Brno. |
