A sensational second-half shooting performance by CCC Polkowice left Novi Zagreb trailing in their wake as the Polish visitors completed a spectacular 76-55 blowout in EuroLeague Women Group C. A roller-coaster first half had witnessed both teams enjoy a quarter of dominance each, with CCC Polkowice firstly leading 19-13 after ten minutes before the hosts outscored their opponents in the second to take the lead 32-27. However, the pendulum then swung viciously in the direction of the visitors as the hosts imploded with their already porous defence going decidedly AWOL. Polkowice took full advantage and having trailed 32-27, they managed to post a jaw dropping 41-11 run, a burst of scoring helped by three triples in a row at the end of the third quarter, including two from Nnemkadi Ogwumike who continues to show she has impressive range. Novi Zagreb couldn't respond and even in the closing stages, couldn't find a late flurry to ease the pain and consequently it was a brutal way for their slim hopes of sneaking a play-off spot to be terminated. There were some excellent performances from a bunch of Polkowice players, with Ogwumike racking up 21 points and nine rebounds, whilst Laia Palau had nine assists and three steals. Latoya Williams was the only hometown player to reach double-digits with 12 points. |
