A near triple-double from Jelena Skerovic and a trademark powerhouse display from Rebekkah Brunson lifted ZVVZ USK Prague to a 78-65 win at Perfumerias Avenida in EuroLeague Women Group C. Having lost at USO Mondeville in their previous game, it was essential USK Prague didn't lose more valuable ground in the race to reach the post-season, but with Skerovic and Brunson both performing to the highest standard, they got back to winning ways. Playmaker Skerovic had been the main culprit in the loss at Mondeville with a significant number of turnovers, but the veteran more than made up for last week's effort by finishing a solitary rebound away from a rare triple-double. She harvested 10 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds in a sparkling performance, whilst Brunson chipped in with 21 points and eight rebounds, shooting over 66% from the floor. Avenida will be cursing their poor play either side of half-time which proved costly and this was when the game slipped away from them. It was still a one-shot game at 31-28, but Prague scored eight of the last nine points in the second quarter and continued their new-found momentum into the second-half. The game was sealed by the visitors when they recorded a devastating 15-0 run either side of the third and fourth quarter break. Marta Xargay and Le'Coe Willingham combined for 31 points for Avenida but lacked any real support as the former Champions slumped to their fifth loss of the season. |
