GAME REPORT  | Belinda Snell sunk five three-pointers to help CCC Polkowice overcome Novi Zagreb

A scorching final quarter display by Belinda Snell catapulted CCC Polkowice to a second victory in EuroLeague Women Group C as they belatedly caught fire to record a 77-66 win against Novi Zagreb. The Polish club had been labouring dreadfully against the visitors for three quarters of the contest due to some woeful shooting performances, but they eventually found their range via the Australian small forward who blew the still winless Novi Zagreb completely out of the water. The hosts held a narrow 51-48 lead at the end of the third period, and it would have taken a brave person to predict the outcome at that juncture, especially with the home favourites misfiring in a big way. But, they wouldn't have counted on Snell coming alive from distance as she started the last quarter with successive triples to break the game open, and then just a couple of minutes later, repeat the feat to effectively seal the win by sinking back-to-back three-pointers once again. The 18-4 run destroyed any hopes Novi Zagreb had of clinching their first ever success in the competition, although Week Four MVP Mirna Mazic did her best with 19 points and eight rebounds to continue her impressive form. However, Snell was the game-winner with 21 points including five triples. Meanwhile Nnemkadi Ogwumike claimed a creditable double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts but has probably enjoyed more productive shooting nights. |
