A terrific team performance by Uni Gyor was the foundation for their third victory of the season in EuroLeague Women as they claimed an 81-72 home-floor success in Group A against the still winless Tarsus Belediye. The hosts started well and once they moved 34-20 in front midway through the second quarter, they barely missed a beat and never looked like losing their grip against a Tarsus side who couldn't get anything going from outside the perimeter, and was always playing catch-up. Amaya Valdemoro managed to cut the deficit to just seven points at 48-41 in the third period, but the visitors never looked like launching any kind of game-changing run. Valdemoro certainly did her best to try and inspire her team as they looked to avoid a fourth consecutive loss, but her eye-catching and all-action line of 17 points, seven steals and four assists wasn't enough to deny Uni Gyor. Gyor had a quintet of outstanding performances posted by Ieva Kublina, Chalysa Shegog, Rita Rasheed, Nataie Hurst and Nora Nagy-Budjoso. Latvian center Kublina was arguably the pick, with 17 points, seven assists and six rebounds in less than 24 minutes of court time. |
