Fenerbahce cruised to an 86-66 win over CC Polkowice to get their Euroleague Women Group B campaign under way. Angel McCoughtry and Ivana Matovic scored 19 points each as Fener won at a canter. Having built a 46-38 advantage by half-time, it was in the third quarter that they rammed home their superiority. Matovic's jump-shot started a 13-5 Fener run to start the period, putting them up 59-43. The gap was at 16, 69-53 when Zane Tamane got a tip on from Kubra Siyahdemir's missed three-pointer to end the quarter. And the Turkish side showed little mercy down the stretch as the extended their lead further, the gap reaching 20, 77-57, on McCoughtry's free-throws with 6:26 to go. The defeat leaves Polkowice bottom of the group at 0/2. Nevriye Yilmaz and Penny Taylor added 14 points each for Fener, while Tamane had six points and 11 rebounds. Sharnee Zoll led Polkowice with 17 points while Evina Maltsi added 14 and Megan Frazee 11. |
