Anete Jekabsone topped scoring for UMMC Ekaterinburg with 21 points
The unmistakable class of Diana Taurasi was in evidence for EuroLeague Women champions UMMC Ekaterinburg as they rolled over HAT-AGRO Uni Gyor 115-51 in a thumping home victory.
The five-time title winner was the standout player in a decidedly one-sided contest between the Russian powerhouse and a team still searching for their first Group A success.
Taurasi revelled in an MVP display by finishing with a stunning 16 points and 11 assists, achieved from a picture-perfect shooting performance all over the court.
It was a fantastic shooting night for the hosts as a team, with Anete Jekabsone lighting up the Arena from long-range with a devastating five-of-six from downtown, en-route to a team-high 21 points.
There was agony for Gyor in the paint too, as UMMC controlled the glass at both ends of the floor from tip to buzzer.
The Hungarian club competed impressively during the opening period and remained within reasonable touching distance, or at least until UMMC exploded offensively with 51 points across the middle two quarters.
They then showed their defensive steel and absolutely no mercy for their opponents by holding Gyor to a meagre six points during the last ten minutes.
Despite finishing on the losing side, Joslyn Tinkle enhanced her reputation with a creditable 24 points.
