|Could not miss on Wednesday night: Shavonte Zellous |
Shavonte Zellous amassed a EuroLeague Women career high score of 32 points as Galatasaray odeabank made light work of taking a 92-67 win at WBC Novi Zagreb.
The guard, who top scored in the Turkish League last year at Mersin, showcased her offensive prowess with a quite remarkable shooting performance and one of the best witnessed in the competition during recent years.
She made 12 of 14 from the floor and was amply supported by Spanish star Alba Torrens, who sunk four triples in 22 point haul as the duo ripped their opponents to shreds.
There had been little sign of what was to follow as the Croatian hosts moved 26-22 ahead early in the second quarter.
But from that point onwards, it was a near one-way street as the visitors showed their class by taking a five point lead at the break.
They turned up their game to another level when they returned and Novi Zagreb simply couldn't cope as a 16-6 run killed-off any prospects of a revival for the home team who struggled to compete on the glass.
Isil Alben had a night to forget shooting-wise, but handed out nine assists for Galatasaray, with Milica Dabovic top-scoring in defeat with 13 points.
