Vaughn Fires Prague To First F8 Slot

A quality 18-point performance from Kia Vaughn propelled ZVVZ USK Prague to a 54-38 play-off success against Rivas Ecopolis to seal the club's first ever appearance at the EuroLeague Women Final Eight.

Having lost the second game of the series in Spain, ZVVZ USK Prague made home advantage count in the third and deciding encounter, by dominating throughout.

Led by Vaughn who eventually shot eight-of-ten from the floor and completed a fine double-double by pulling down 11 rebounds, the hosts started brightly by moving into an early 12-5 advantage and setting the tone for what was to follow.

Even though Rivas got back to within a point only minutes later, the visitors were then undone by a powerful ten minutes or so either side of the half-time interval by Prague who controlled the glass to great effect.

Eight unanswered points in the third quarter, including successive scores by playmaker Laia Palau took Prague into what was ultimately an unassailable 18-point lead.

But it was Vaughn who was causing Rivas the biggest headache, still flawless and with 16 points late in the penultimate period after making her first eight shots of the night.

Whilst Rivas fought hard, they couldn't find the offensive firepower they needed to haul themselves back into contention against a stifling Prague defence.

Consequently the Czech champions were able to ease their way to victory and celebrate inking a landmark chapter in their history

Rachel Allison was the only Rivas player to reach double figures after scoring 12 points.
