|Elodie Godin and Schio are now 2 of 2 at the start of the new EuroLeague Women season|
A vintage performance by Laura Macchi and some fine work on the glass by Kathrin Ress took Beretta Famila Schio to a 73-62 win against Kayseri Kaski spor in EuroLeague Women Group A.
Macchi landed a game-high 31 points and Ress corralled 16 rebounds to go with 12 points, as the Italian club finished with a spectacular late surge to seal their second win of the new campaign.
It had been Kayseri who had enjoyed a dream start to the contest, racing out of the blocks and scoring the first nine points of the game.
Although when Macchi converted from three-point range for Schio, it completed a 13-2 run as the hosts almost immediately erased the early deficit.
Recent Kayseri signing Mirna Mazic put the visitors 31-25 ahead again, but the pendulum swing back to Schio when they finished the first-half action with a stylish 9-2 burst.
Buoyed by the shift of momentum and their stunning week one win at Tango Bourges, it looked like Schio would run away with the game.
Especially when Jenifer Nadalin scored to hand the Italians a double-figure lead at 55-45 with a minute left of the penultimate period.
As Elodie Godin found herself in foul trouble, Kayseri sniffed out the chance of one last push for victory and inspired by Tanisha Wright who finished with 23 points, they recovered.
Wright tied the scores at 58-58 to set up a spine-tingling conclusion, but Schio delivered down the stretch in emphatic fashion by outscoring their opponents 15-4 to ease to the win.
