Elodie Godin sealed the deal for Famila Schio as they upset Bourges in front of a big crowd in France
Beretta Famila Schio ended their winless away run with a 61-55 success at Tango Bourges in their opening Group A EuroLeague Women game of the season.
It is five games and almost a year to the day since Schio won on the road in EuroLeague Women and this victory came thanks to a 12-0 run early in the second half.
The visitors led 7-6 after one as both teams made an awkward opening.
The play picked up in the second period however and Elodie Godin scored seven of her game-high 20 points, including the final basket of the half to take a 23-19 lead into the break.
Godin then responded to a three-pointer from Celine Dumerc and a jump shot from Emmeline Ndongue with baskets of her own, the second sparking the scoring surge that would swing the contest in Schio's favour.
That run took the score to 37-24 and only once more would Bourges get back within two points, at 44-42, but even then Godin had an answer and once more it led to a scoring run.
In truth, Schio were never unduly troubled as Laura Macchi added 18 points, although FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year Celine Dumerc did post an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double.
