|Back on the international scene, this time in a Schio vest: Laura Spreafico|
Having missed out on a potential trip to EuroBasket Women 2013, the spirits of Italian guard Laura Spreafico have been lifted after being given the chance of court time in EuroLeague Women by Famila Schio.
The Italian champions have signed the versatile swingman who played for runners-up Le Mura Lucca last season, having previously been with Pool Comense since her early teens.
The 21-year-old broke into the Italian national team last summer, helping them secure a ticket for France, producing a memorable 19 points against Luxembourg.
Now Spreafico is contemplating playing alongside the veteran players she has grown up admiring when she pulls on a Schio vest.
She said, "I can't fail to be happy to be part of a team so important and with such high-profile targets.
"One of my idols since I was young was Raffaella Masciadri and to play with star players of the calibre of both her and Laura Macchi, is pretty much a dream come true.
"It's also a starting point and it will be a busy season - I'll have to work hard" added the guard.
Spreafico is also delighted to be preparing to work under the watchful eye of new head coach Miguel Mendez, who has arrived via Spanish club Rivas.
"A friend who played in Madrid raved about the new coach" she revealed.
"They stressed the intensity in his training but also his great humanity and attitude in working with young people."
Spreafico excelled at youth level for Italy, averaging double-digits in scoring and is likely to be utilised as a three-point shooter from the wing coming off the bench for her new team.
