Cecilia Zandalasini is considered one of the most exciting young talents in European basketball

One of the hottest properties in European basketball, rising star Cecilia Zandalasini is to represent Italian champions Beretta Famila Schio next season.

After recently being handed her senior national team debut in the EuroBasket Women 2015 2nd Qualification Round, there will be more first steps for the versatile and stellar talented teenager from the autumn.

She will get to play in EuroLeague Women next season, as well as the Italian top flight, having played with Sesto San Giovanni, where she averaged 15.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The 18-year-old has however not yet committed to moving straight into the pro-game by keeping her options of attending College and playing in the NCAA open for the time being.

Her rise to stardom has been rapid, but barely surprising taking into account her outstanding potential and capabilities which has seen her going from MVP at the U16 European Championship Women to playing at the elite level for her country in just two years.

"I thank Sesto San Giovanni for the sensitivity shown in allowing Cecilia to compete at the summit of not only Italian basketball, but also in Europe" explained a delighted Schio General Manager, Paulo De Angelis.

"Celia is a young player that comes to complete the roster, but will have a very important role starting this year."

Zandalasini is likely to play at the U18 European Championship Women next month in Portugal, but will firstly focus on trying to help Italy punch their ticket for EuroBasket Women 2015 Final Round.
