BASKETBALL IN EUROPE

Poland coach Jacek Winnicki
No rest for Poland coach Jacek Winnicki this summer, who will take over at CCC Polkowice after the EuroBasket Women Qualification Round gamesĀ

Jacek Winnicki is fully focused on getting Poland's national team to the EuroBasket Women 2013 in France and so far, so good on that account.

The Poles opened their Qualification Round campaign with a 77-52 demolition of Estonia over the weekend.

Once Winnicki's time is done with Poland this summer, however, he will quickly turn his attention back to the club game and his new position as coach of CCC Polkowice.

The club that finished runners-up to Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in the domestic league have appointed a coach who has a lot of experience in the men's and women's game.

The president and general manager of Polkowice, Krzysztof Korsak, said: "Jacek Winnicki is one of the best professionals in Poland. We have high hopes. I am pleased he will lead our team."

Winnicki, who coaches Poland on Wednesday night at Montenegro, takes over from Arkadiusz Rusin.

Rusin guided Polkowice into the Second Round of the EuroLeague Women.
