Gabriela Marginean scored 18 points in Targoviste's debut EuroLeague win
The party is in full swing for the fans of Municipal Targoviste after the home favourites landed an absorbing 79-76 success against Nadezhda.
A momentous night was made even sweeter by the fact that the visitors threatened to snatch the victory away from the Romanian side, but Municipal Targoviste found the composure and mental strength to come back and finish the job down the stretch.
In a marvellously absorbing game, both teams held relatively healthy leads which looked to be potentially decisive but in the end, it came down to crunch time.
After a roller-coaster first half, the trend continued as Elina Babkina put the hosts 48-41 ahead but Nadezhda came storming back with a 9-2 finish to the third quarter and that made it a one-point game heading into the final ten minutes.
The good work of the Russians continued and when they moved 66-63 in front, it posed a major question for Targoviste which they subsequently answered .
The last few moments were sensational as Babkina made what looked to be the play of the game with the decisive basket with just 14 seconds left on the clock - only for the newly signed Monique Currie to become an instant hit with Targoviste supporters by blocking a shot from Dewanna Bonner, trying to force overtime from long-range.
Milka Bjelica had 15 points and eight rebounds for Targoviste whilst Jillian Robbins was one rebound short of a double-double.
Bonner had 17 rebounds for the losing team to go with her 13 points.
