Szia from Pecs!

We are still alive over here! In case you are wondering what I mean, I'm talking about our chances to advance in the EuroLeague Women. We pulled out a tough win at USO Mondeville in a contest that came down to the last minute of the game.

A crazy, left-handed circus shot from Dalma Ivanyi and a huge three pointer Zsofia Fegyverneky were two big plays that really stuck out in my mind down the stretch. They both played great games and hit some big shots in the 4th quarter. Aside from Dalma and Zsofi, everyone did something little in this game to get the victory. That's what you have to do on the road in order to get a win, the little things.

This victory means we are still in the running to finish fourth in Group A. As of right now, we share the same 3-5 record as USO Mondeville. Our fate and future in EuroLeague Women will come down to our final two games after the new year. We will face off with Good Angels Kosice first, and then Cras BasketTaranto. Luckily, we will play these games in the comfort of our home gym. Of course, this doesn't mean anything, but it sure does help to be at home with our fans as the sixth man - they are definitely the best supporters!

Speaking of our amazing fans, we owe them a few wins at home I'd say. Before beating USO Mondeville on the road, we lost to Wisla Can Pack at home the previous week. I know our supporters were just as upset as we were after this game. We did not play the way we are capable of playing at all.

Give some credit to Krakow though, they really came in and took advantage of our poor play. Against a good team like that, you can't give them anything easy. You have to make them work for every point, every rebound, every possession. This is the mindset we had against USO Mondeville and we executed it, which is why we were able to get the win.

Alexandria with her family
Allie cannot wait -literally- to spend the holidays with her family

Aside from keeping our hopes alive in Euroleague Women, we have all been getting a little antsy to go home for the Christmas break. What's the Christmas spirit without a little "Secret Santa" though? We celebrated this tradition the other night as a team and I can definitely say that everyone was surprised to see who their Santa was!

I got a nice, purple jacket from Regina Palusna. Hmmm, I wonder how she knew I wanted it? Well, one of my team-mates took me into the Nike store and asked me what I liked best and I chose this. I'm pretty sure this was how everyone figured out how to buy their secret santa gift, ha, ha!. She also got me some shower gel and body lotion but seriously - is she trying to tell me something?

Well, now that our Secret Santa party is over, it's time for the best gift of them all - being at home with my family! Even though we still had a couple domestic games left to play I was already packed! I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends that I've been away from for just so long! I have two brothers and a sister, so it will be nice for us all to be home at the same time, which doesn't happen very often!

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Christmas holiday and talk to you soon - in 2011!

Ciao, Allie.
