| 24.01.2013 EUROLEAGUE WOMEN | | Plenette Pierson registered 21 points and nine rebounds for Good Angels Kosice |
Good Angels Kosice continued their bid to finish top of EuroLeague Women Group B after coming away from fellow challengers Famila Schio with a 78-67 success thanks mainly to a terrific shooting performance. The Slovakian club condemned Schio to a worrying third loss in just four games, as the hosts' aim to finish top of the heap evaporated - although they did at least welcome back Laura Macchi from a long-term absence. It was a brilliant team performance by Kosice who shrugged off a slow start and another phenomenal performance by Jantel Lavander who registered 25 points and 10 rebounds for Schio. After trailing 20-13 by the end of the first quarter, Kosice finally caught fire during the second period, outscoring Schio 26-17 to set up a fascinating second half. The third quarter did little to separate the teams, but Kosice did a great job in the clutch to ease their way to success, finishing the contest with 12 of the last 14 points. Some sharp shooting from behind the three-point line was essential and they were also happy to make Schio earn their points, sending them to the free-throw line a whopping 29 times. Plenette Pierson led the way for the winning team with 21 points and nine rebounds, Petra Kulichova weighed in with an efficient 12-point cameo, whilst Icelandic shooter Helena Sverrisdottir converted three triples on her way to 11 points. |
