Rivas Ecopolis have turned to power forward Anna Vajda in a bid to strengthen their frontcourt options and fill the void left by the now departed Laura Nicholls who opted to leave the club over the weekend.

Vajda will link up with the Spanish side until the end of the season and will line up alongside Hungarian national team colleague Katalin Honti.

The club acted in the wake of the recent decision by Laura Nicholls to leave for personal reasons, a move which resulted in weakening the options of Miguel Mendez inside - something which was hardly ideal with a vital EuroLeague Women play-off clash against Famila Schio on the horizon.

Vajda had been playing in the Turkish League with Samsun, where she averaged 10.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game before the club recently decided to release its' import players.

In addition to a wealth of EuroLeague Women experience with MKB Euroleasing (now UE Sopron), Mizo Pecs, USK Prague and Fenerbahce, the 28-year-old also knows the Spanish top flight Liga Femenina, having stepped out last season with Perfumerias Avenida.

Vajda will operate in the paint alongside Aneika Henry, Ziomara Morrison and Oleksandra Kurasova and it promises to be a tough duel under the basket during coming weeks when the quartet go up against a Schio side able to call upon the likes of Elodie Godin and the in-form Jantel Lavender.
