11. Jerome Dyson (Hapoel Holon)
Last 16 Week 3 MVP: Jerome Dyson

Jerome Dyson and Hapoel Holon, inadvertently, turned back the clock on Tuesday night.

The 25-year-old shooting guard was just a baby, not to mention he was in the USA, back in the day when, more often than not, the scoresheet of a European basketball game would look like the one after Holon's clash with BCM Gravelines Dunkerque in the EuroChallenge Last 16.

The American shooting guard and his team-mates Franklin Hassell and Lawrence Hill brought back memories of Nikos Galis, Drazen Petrovic or (Brazilian) Oscar Schmidt in the Tuesday encounter in France, as each stayed on the floor for almost the entire game and they combined for 79 of their team's 80 points.

A further six Holon players took to the floor on the night, but most of them barely attempted a shot, as the trio took 51 of Holon's 56 shots from the field.

There is an easy explanation for this, as Dyson in particular made almost every single shot count.

He went 6-for-8 from two-point range, 7-for-13 from behind the three-point arc and sunk nine of his 10 free throws to finish with 42 points.

Dyson's monstrous scoring night almost helped Holon reach a famous road victory, but in the end BCM prevailed 86-80.

He did however reach an efficiency rating of 33 and is named the EuroChallenge Last 16 Week 3 MVP.

At the same time in Turkey, Krasnye Krylia's Andre Smith was delivering a powerful performance to propel his team to a 78-70 win on the road, but it was not enough to edge out the Holon guard's stat lines.

Hassell, Dyson' team-mate was not far behind and finished in third place thanks to his 24-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Dyson's 42 points are the second-best single-game scoring performance in EuroChallenge history.

Deron Williams, the Brooklyn Nets superstar who had spent the first three months of last season with reigning EuroChallenge champions Besiktas Milangaz, had scored 50 points on 17-for-23 shooting from the floor in the Turkish team's 105-94 win over BG Göttingen on 22 November 2011.
