David Gonzalvez and Tai Wesley turned the game in SPM Shoeters' favour midway through the third quarter
SPM Shoeters Den Bosch have edged closer to the Last Sixteen in the EuroChallenge, defeating Group A rivals Rakvere Tarvas 70-57 in Estonia on Tuesday night.
Despite leading at the end of each quarter, Den Bosch were not having everything go their way with the game throwing up eight lead changes and six tied scores.
However, when Tai Wesley set up for David Gonzalvez with 2:56 remaining in the third quarter, Den Bosch had a 45-44 that would not relinquish again.
It was the start of the crucial phase of the game with Wesley completing an 8-0 run to put the Shoeters up 51-44 going into the last ten minutes.
Wesley and Gonzalvez both had 13 points whilst Wesley also pulled down 11 boards. Ali Farokhmanesh led the way with 15 points and eight rebounds.
Unfortunately the scoring drought did not end with the third quarter for Rakvere and when Giedrius Gustas finally snapped the dry spell from the charity stripe 1:17 into the final stanza, the Estonians were trailing by 11 - a gap they would not overcome.
Gustas, Kristo Saage and Gregory Jenkins all completed proceedings with 12 points for the home team with the latter also adding 14 rebounds.
