Dramatic Dijon Win KO's Ventspils

Andre Harris' three-pointer with 14 seconds left sealed the final result for the home side

Andre Harris hit a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to give JDA Dijon their first victory in EuroChallenge Group K in a 74-72 win over BK Ventspils.

The result ended the Latvian team's slim hopes of catching Triumph Lyubertsy for qualification to the quarter-finals, and it will come as a bitter disappointment to coach Roberts Stelmahers after his team blew a six-point lead in the final period.

After Mykal Riley's jumper put JDA Dijon up 71-70 with less than a minute remaining, Maris Gulbis responded to give the visitors a one-point advantage.

The home team called timeout and found Harris for the crucial shot, before Sandis Valters' attempt to tie the game fell short.

In a see-saw contest, Janis Timma and Davis Lejasmeiers drained three-pointers at the end of the third quarter to give the visitors the advantage.

But missed shots and turnovers down the stretch allowed the hosts to claw their way back, and Timma fouled out in sending Anthony Dobbins to the line for two clutch free throws which set up the thrilling finale.

Timma ended with a game-high 15 points and playmaker Lorenzo Williams recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 assists, but it wasn't enough for the visitors as Harris and Riley ended with 14 points apiece in the victory. Zacherie Moss chipped in with 12 points.
