|Sharaud Curry is the Last 16 Week 5 Top Performer|
Sharaud Curry of Team TEHO Sport Kotka registered an efficiency index rating of 26 on Tuesday and is the Top Statistical Performer of Week 5 in the Last 16 of the EuroChallenge.
The 26-year-old diminutive point guard poured in a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 from the floor, dished out a game-high eight assists and added six rebounds and two steals to pave the way for Kotka's 82-79 win over Bakken Bears Aarhus in Group L.
The Finnish side heard prior to tip-off of Ural Ekaterinburg's win over Tsmoki Minsk in the other game in the group and consequently knew that they had no chance of advancing to the quarter-final play-offs.
That did not however influence Kotka's performance, largely because Curry set the tone from the start, accumulating 14 points in the first half, and the hosts raced to a 16-point lead midway through the third quarter, before Bakken's late fightback made for a dramatic finale.
Curry, who has scored in double digits in every EuroChallenge game this season, leads the competition in scoring with 20.1 points per game and is the third-leading player in assists, averaging 6.7 per game.
"It has been a great experience to play EuroChallenge and I'm very proud of my team," he said after the game.
Two other players who have consistently delivered the goods for their teams share second spot on the table of the Top Statistical Performers this week.
Dejan Borovnjak of Royal Hali Gaziantep and Sani Becirovic of Krka Novo Mesto both registered an efficiency index rating of 25 on Tuesday.
The Serbian power forward's efforts kept his team close during the tough first 30 minutes of their encounter with Triumph Lyubertsy, so that the Turkish team could unleash their assault in the fourth and win, 64-59 at home.
Borovnjak finished with 18 points on seven-of-nine from the floor, seven rebounds, three assists and added one steal and one block for good measure.
There was somewhat less drama in Novo Mesto as Krka defeated Szolnoki Olaj 89-78 in Group J, but still the Slovenian side underwent a rough patch and had a veteran guard guide them through it.
Becirovic did not have his best shooting night but delivered a marvellous all-round performance for the home team as he collected a double-double of 13 points (on 4-of-10 from the floor) and 11 assists, as well as adding eight rebounds.
The Slovenian guard features on the podium of the Top Statistical Performers chart for the second week in a row, as during Last 16 Week 4 action he had reached a rating of 27 and shared third spot with Ryan Pearson.
