In a laconic statement on their official website, EuroChallenge competitors Cholet Basket have confirmed that their collaboration with American point guard Terrell Stoglin has come to an end.

"Cholet Basket has decided to terminate the employment contract of Terrell Stoglin. He will therefore no longer form part of the Cholet's staff," the French club's brief announcement read.

Rumours of the impeding divorce between Cholet and their leading scorer had started circulating after the French team's EuroChallenge game against Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia at home on Tuesday, which ended with an 81-78 win for the hosts.

To general surprise, Stoglin was not on the 12-man roster and the French club did not comment on the reasons for his absence.

Media reports in France the following day insisted that the whereabouts of the 22-year-old playmaker remained unknown, and on Thursday the player himself effectively confirmed he was leaving town.

"Will miss my fans in France and those who stayed by me. I love u [sic] all!!! See u [sic] soon. And good luck Cholet Basket!!!!," Stoglin wrote in message to his fans on Twitter.

Stoglin arrived at Cholet in the summer and while his displays were not always consistent, he had delivered some sparkling performances since the start of the season and led the team in scoring.

In the EuroChallenge, the point guard averaged 15.6 points on 37% field goal percentage, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists, while in the French Pro A he averaged 14.9 points (on 42.5% shooting), 2.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Luckily for Cholet, 29-year-old Torey Thomas only arrived last week as a back-up to Stoglin, made a more than promising debut on Tuesday, as he finished with a game-high 22 points and added four assists and three steals against Reggio Emilia.

The French club are scanning the market with a view to adding one more point guard in the coming days and, according to as yet unconfirmed media reports, they already have their man in the shape of Anthony Goods.

Israeli website one.co.il has reported that the 26-year-old guard will be arriving in France on Sunday, following the conclusion of his short-term contract with Nes-Ziona, where he averaged 20 points, four rebounds and 0.8 assists in domestic action.

Goods had started the season at Hapoel Holon, where he contributed 10 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists in six games in the Israeli Winner League.
