|Janar Talts recorded a double-double for Tartu Rock|
Tartu snatched a thrilling 106-105 overtime victory over Avtodor Saratov to kick-start their EuroChallenge Last 16 campaign in Group K.
No more than four points separated the teams at any stage after half-time in regulation, but 25 minutes of gut-wrenching tension was finally settled after Avtodor's Travis Peterson missed with a late three-point attempt in overtime and Tartu took the win.
It is their first in Group K after an opening loss to Fraport Skyliners, while Avtodor were playing their first game in the Last 16.
Both teams came into the game in hot form domestically, and an outstanding contest duly followed.
Avtodor led by 11 points at one point in the second quarter, with Kyrylo Fesenko's free throw making it 39-28, but the default position of the contest was to have the two teams locked together - the scores were tied 18 times in regulation.
Joosep Toome put Tartu up 94-91 34 seconds from time but Micah Downs replied with 18 ticks left and, after Janar Talts missed a three on the buzzer, the teams went to overtime.
The close battle continued - neither team led by more than two in the extra period.
With 65 seconds left, Talts answered Downs' three-pointer with a long ball of his own to make it 106-105.
Aleksandr Gudumak's turnover gave Valmo Kriisa a chance to kill it but his three-point attempt bounced clear before Peterson missed at the other end.
Toome had another chance to ice it but missed both free throws with six seconds left, a sign of the growing tension, but Tartu hung on all the same.
Gert Dorbek led Tartu with 24 points, with Talts collecting 23 points and 11 rebounds.
Peterson and Downs finished with 22 points each for Avtodor.
