|Sarah Beránková had 16 points for Czech Republic|
There was a dramatic ending to the second day of the U18 European Championship Women in Matosinhos after hosts Portugal were denied victory and went down 60-59 to Czech Republic in a bizarre ending to a riveting contest.
Turning Point: Down by a point on the last play Carolina Bernardeco had the ball in her hands but inexplicably allowed the clock to run down to zero, rather than executing a play - thinking her team were leading. She was distraught afterwards, but received incredible support after the final buzzer for her mishap.
Game Heroes: Sarah Berankova claimed 16 points for the winning team and there was a nice cameo of 10 points from Tereza Kracikova who made all five of her shots from the floor.
Stats Don't Lie: Portugal could only score four fast break points and that was pivotal, while Czech Republic got a mammoth 38 points off the bench.
The Bottom Line: Czech Republic face Sweden and will like their chances, although a loss could still see them into the Classification Round. Portugal meanwhile must pick themselves up against Italy who are already through to the next phase.
