|Tatiana Sema was major presence under the boards for Russia|
Russia wrapped up their first round campaign at the U18 European Championship Women in style as they claimed a 72-42 victory against the previously unbeaten Slovenia to claim pole position in Group A.
Turning Point: There wasn't once since Russia were red-hot from the tip and out of sight after just ten minutes when they romped into a commanding 24-6 lead by the end of the opening period.
Game Heroes: Tatiana Sema was once again immense in the paint and corralled 14 boards, four steals and three blocked three shots. Anastasia Kuplinova enjoyed a strong shooting performance with 12 points.
Stats Don't Lie: Slovenia were abject inside and made a woeful 23.1% from two-point range which wasn't going to allow them to keep pace with their opponents, let alone provide an opportunity to win.
The Bottom Line: Both teams advance to the next stage and while Slovenia will lick their wounds after a severe mauling, they had already accomplished their immediate priority of retaining their Division A status. They can play better and Russia can be satisfied with their work having only narrowly lost to France in overtime so far.
