GAME REPORT

Champs Too Hot To Handle For Slovenia

6. Ondaye Elenga (France)
Ondaye Elenga had nine points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals for defending champions France
France tipped off the defence of their U18 European Championship Women title in Vukovar with a powerful 70-49 effort against Slovenia, who couldn't deal with the quick hands and pressure of the champions.

Whilst almost all the personnel were different from last summer, it was the same style of performance from Les Bleus who forced 20 turnovers and came up with an eye-popping 18 steals in the contest.

It was a slow start by Arnaud Guppillotte and his players as they laboured their way into a 13-11 lead in a tight opening quarter.

However, with Slovenia having lost the firepower of the absent Ziva Macura, it wasn't long before France began to slowly turn the screw.

At 16-16, the game remained an edgy affair, but France came alive with a punishing 20-6 burst of scoring to make their mark by the interval.

Trailing 36-22, Slovenia tried to respond, but even with the outstanding Eva Lisec who fired 16 points from six of seven floor shooting, there was to be no way back.

France had too much depth and once they garnered more fast-break scores, the gap continued to widen as they cantered over the finish line.

Ondaye Elenga produced an all-action display for France with nine points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and thee blocks.
