The EuroBasket 2015 2nd Qualifying Round was dominated by stellar performances of influential big men since it tipped off and the final day of action in the competition highlighted this tendency.
The podium of Top Statistical Performers on Day 6 was occupied by a trio of frontcourt players, albeit it was the power forward, the most mobile of the three, that stepped at the top.
Axel Hervelle delivered on Wednesday his best display in the entire 2nd Qualifying Round, collecting 24 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and five steals to propel Belgium to a 77-63 win at Denmark and first place in Group D.
Hervelle's all-round showing registered a mark of 35 in efficiency index rating, equalising Haukur Pálsson's record on the first day of the 2nd Qualifying Round and he is therefore the Day 6 Top Statistical Performer.
It's worth noting that Wednesday's double-double was the second of the 31-year-old Belgian in this campaign and he finished the competition as his team's top scorer and rebounder (13 points and 6.2 boards per game).
Just a step below Hervelle on the Day 6 podium is a player who, on Wednesday, had the demanding task of partially filling in for Mirza Teletovic.
Elmedin Kikanovic could hardly have done more to help Bosnia and Herzegovina overcome the absence of their captain in Iceland, as he came up with international career-highs in both scorign and rebounds.
The 26-year-old center went 10-for-16 from the floor and finished with 24 points and 16 rebounds, also adding four blocked shots for good measure.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina big man reached an efficiency index rating of 34 and steered his team to a hard-earned 78-70 win on the road, which gave them first place in Group A.
Unlike Hervelle and Kikanovic, the third player on the Day 6 podium did not take part in any celebrations on Wednesday night and will not compete at EuroBasket 2015 next summer.
Rasid Mahalbasic nonetheless concluded the 2nd Qualifying Round by confirming his status as one of the stand-out players in the competition, the only one to step on the Top Statistical Performer podium on three occasions.
The Austrian big man collected a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds in his team's crucial game against Poland on the road and registered an efficiency rating of 32.
His huge contribution was not enough for Austria to avoid falling 90-85 to their hosts in overtime, but no one could overlook their enormous effort and the improvement they showed in this competition with Mahalbasic emerging as their new leader.
